Lifeguards from the RNLI

We were visited by lifeguards from the RNLI who delivered an assembly all about beach safety. Within the assembly, we learnt about what a lifeguard’s job involves and the different ways they help to save people (including the different equipment they use to carry out rescues). We also learnt about the dangers on beaches and especially the dangers on our local beaches – such as Westward Ho! and Woolacombe. An important explanation that the lifeguards gave us was about the different flags displayed on beaches and what each one means. Alongside this, we found out what we should do if we ever get into difficulty in the sea, as well as what we should do if we see others in trouble.
