East-the-Water had a brilliant experience taking part in UK Parliament Week. In topic lessons, children in each phase explored different areas of Parliament throughout British history including the impact of the suffragette movement; the establishment of the Magna Carta; the relevance of Parliament's Petitions Committee and why laws, like our golden rules, are so important. Children and staff then had the opportunity to celebrate their favourite British icon when they dressed up as them on the Friday. We had a great range: Beatrix Potter, Emmeline Pankhurst, David Bowie, Harry Potter, Queen Victoria and Prince William to name but a few! The week was rounded off with a special version of Prime Minister's (or rather Headteacher's) questions where the School Council asked Mrs Higley about matters of the school on behalf of each class. Children had lots of fantastic questions and really enjoyed listening to Mrs Higley's response.
