School Council - London Trip
The School Council from East -the-Water Primary School Bideford recently travelled all the way to London to deepen their learning about British Values, in particular that of democracy in Britain. After a tour of the Houses of Parliament, which included the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the historic Westminster Hall, the School Council joined Shawford Primary School's School Council for a workshop. In the 360 degree immersive chamber, the children worked together to learn about the people that work in Parliament by putting themselves into the shoes of the Monarch, Members of Parliament or Peers from the of House of Lords. Both School Councils worked well together and were a credit to their schools as they answered questions about and reflected upon the business of Parliament, including role playing traditions which have been carried out over hundreds of years. This was an exciting opportunity for the members of the School Council, some who have never traveled to a big city like London and we are very proud of them, they represented our school very well.
