Welcome to East-the-Water Primary School
East-the-Water Primary is a thriving and ever growing community school committed to offering an education which gives our children a love of learning, broadening their horizons and enabling them to make informed choices in life.
We celebrate the uniqueness and talents of all our children. We have high expectations of behaviour and achievement in all areas, focusing equally on the personal, social, and academic development of all our children. We expect children who leave East-the-Water Primary School to be confident and highly motivated learners who care for the society in which they live.
We embrace close partnerships with parents and the community. Together we actively celebrate and value the ideas and developments of our school and community.
East-the-Water Primary School has presently 260 pupils on roll ranging from the Nursery class to Year 6. The Nursery class provides flexible care enabling families to identify how their child’s 15 hours free entitlement best meets the needs of their family life.
The commitment of all staff and governors is excellent. We are very proud of our recent achievements and continue to work alongside the community, moving the school forward.
Linking with Otwee Primary School in Northern Uganda
During October Mrs Higley had the fantastic opportunity to visit Uganda, East Africa. Mrs Higley was invited as part of a project called ‘Food For Thought’ supporting a conference for Ugandan Headteachers and Class Teachers. During the visit Mrs Higley was able to establish a partnership with a School in Northern Uganda. The link School is called Otwee Primary School and is located in the countryside, near a town called Gulu.
While the builders are replacing our roof here at East-the-Water, Otwee Primary also have builders on site. The School is building a new block which will house 6 Teachers and their families.
Food For Thought is a project based in Exeter working with Schools in the UK and Uganda. It supports Schools to develop learning about growing and learning about food in both countries. Our children will throughout the year learn about life in Uganda as part of our curriculum.
