Last week Pudsey came to visit our school every morning and afternoon to remind us to raise money for the charity Children in Need. Together we raised £551 by wearing spotty clothes and popping our 50P donation into Pudsey’s bucket. What a crazy amount of money, well done. Thanks for coming to see us Pudsey! Hopefully we will see you again next year.
There has been a real buzz around school this half term! Staff and children were really excited to take part in our first whole school ‘Science Day’. Children from every class took part in a range of hands-on science activities based on the skills of actually being a scientist. Children learnt how to think like a scientist and act like a scientist. The activities included: making vehicles that fly; investigating the effect of friction on the movement of a buggy; observing the effect of exercise on heart rate and discovering that a snowman should wear a coat to stop him defrosting! Children learnt a range of skills including predicting, evaluating, measuring accurately and forming conclusions. Our budding scientists will be excited to hear that following this year’s success there will be three science days next year where children will have the opportunity to be fully immersed in the wonderful world of science.
Year 5 have enjoyed a fabulous sports day this year. The day kicked off with green, red, yellow and blue teams competing for points in a series of races that tested their speed, balance and agility. The day then progressed into a tag rugby tournament where teams progressed through rounds right up to a final. Spectators were amazed at the sportsmanship and skill seen. Well done to year 5 and well done to the green team who took home the race medals!
