We strive to ensure that the fundamental British Values are embedded within all aspects of our curriculum
This allows children to explore and engage with the values, developing them into a global citizen, who will thrive. We will teach our children to be accepting and tolerant; respectful and kind to everyone, and understand that we live in a diverse world which should be celebrated. When our pupils leave our school, they will know right from wrong, and be able to contribute positively to both their local and wider society adhering to the rule of law. It is fundamental that they understand the value of democracy and individual liberty to flourish in today’s ever-changing world.
“Somewhere inside of us all is the power to change the world!” – Roald Dahl.
King Charles lll Coronation
The photo above shows the planting of a Royal Burgundy cherry tree marking the King’s Coronation. The tree will flower with double rose pink flowers at the same time as the coronation each year.
It was presented to the school by the Mayor Jamie McKenzie, Beadle Valerie Morrish, Councillor Doug Bushby and Councillor Peter Lawrence.
The tree was planted by David and Andy from Bideford Council maintenance alongside some of our wonderful helpful children. We look forward to watching it bloom.
All the children in the school then received a commemorative medal to mark this very special historic occasion.

This year our School Council have been very active around school. After being elected by the school, our members have decided on two main priorities:
· Helping to create a love of reading.
· Promoting good sportsmanship on our playground.
They have already established a calm reading area on the playground and organised playground leaders to run active games during playtimes.
Recently, members of the School Council met with Sir Geoffrey Cox, our member of parliament for Torridge and West Devon. They had a great discussion and asked questions about how government works, his career and his aims for the area.
